  • Lake County Diversion & Deflection Series, Part 3: Juvenile Justice

    When: Tuesday, August 15, 2023, 6:00 to 8:30pm (doors open at 5:15pm for resource fair)

    Where: Greenbelt Cultural Center, 1215 N. Green Bay Rd., North Chicago

    What: This free event is for any Lake County community member who wants a better understanding of what happens when youth enter the criminal justice system. Since the juvenile justice system differs greatly from the adult court system, it can seem confusing. By attending this program you will get an overview of the system and learn about programs intended to support youth who have come in contact with law enforcement. RSVP here.

  • Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Brunch with U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV)

    When: Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 9:00 to 11:00am.  Doors open at 7:30am.

    Where: Bank of Springfield (BOS) Center, 1 Convention Center Plaza, Springfield

    What: The 2023 County Chairs’ Brunch features U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada. Tenth Dems founder, Lauren Beth Gash, is an Executive Board Member and former Party Builder Award recipient. Register online.

     

  • Deputy Voter Registrar Training in Libertyville

    When: Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 10:00am

    Where: Public Works Department, 648 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville

    What: Lake Dems is sponsoring volunteers to become Deputy Voter Registrars. The training session is conducted by the County Clerk’s office, and once you complete the session you will officially be able to register others to vote. Register here.

    There are certain requirements. You must be 18 years old and registered to vote in Lake County. Once you are trained to register voters in Lake County, you can register voters anywhere in Illinois. (Deputy Voter Registrars must be trained in their home county.)

    Voting is our most basic right, and helping others to exercise that right is an important contribution to our community. We hope you can help.

  • Fremont Township Democrats August Meeting

    When: Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 6:00pm

    Where: Lakeside Recreation Center, 900 S. Lake St., Mundelein (small party room)

    What: All things political will be discussed, including upcoming Connection Canvassing opportunities. A hybrid system will be used, with some meeting in-person and everyone else Zooming in. He will discuss common-sense gun violence prevention, fighting climate change, and bringing down the cost of health care.   • India Independence Day Celebration in Vernon Hills

    When: Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 10:00am to 3:00pm

    Where: Peterson Park, 16652 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Vernon Hills

    What: A celebration of India Independence Day at Peterson Park in Vernon Hills. There will be music, dancers, speakers (including many Democratic elected officials) and delicious food. Lake Dems will have a booth.

  • Connection Canvassing Phone Banking in Mundelein

  • Lake County Clerk’s Office Candidate Information Session

    When: Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00pm. Upcoming sessions September 6 at 6:00pm and October 11 at 6:00 pm.

    Where: Online via Zoom.

    What: This first of three sessions for potential candidates for the 2024 elections will go over the petition packet and what to expect during filing, and share resources that are publicly available at the County Clerk’s and Illinois State Board of Elections’ website. Register here.
