Your Lake County Democratic Voter Guide
We don’t have to tell you how much is at stake this year. Choice, gun violence prevention, voting rights, and so much more are on the ballot. Every bit of help could make the difference. Let us know if you can pass out Democratic voter guides at polling places, go door to door, or make phone calls to bring out voters.
Please sign up at lakedems.org/gotv2022 to let us know your availability on any or all of the dates and times listed. Every single thing each one of us does can make the difference for our candidates.
Our Election Protection/Pollwatcher Team is Busy at the Polls
We’re almost there! Voting is under way and Election Day is coming up. As Democrats come together for the big sprint down the stretch, here’s a little bit about what Lake Dems has been doing with our Election Protection Team.
We’ve already offered three 90-minute training sessions for attorneys and other pollwatchers, and we just scheduled a fourth session for Thursday evening, November 3, at 7:30 pm on Zoom. If you plan to volunteer, please sign up here: lakedems.org/election2022. This session will be one last chance to train, refresh your knowledge of voting rules and things to look for at the polls, and ask your questions of our trainers, who also serve as Election Protection Legal Coordinators.
Our Team has been in the field for Early Voting. We’re still soliciting volunteers for these last few days, so let us know if you’re available. We’re also in the process of making assignments for the many lawyers and other volunteers who have signed up to pollwatch on Election Day. We can always use more help, so if you would like to volunteer on Election Day, sign up here: lakedems.org/election2022.
You can call our Election Protection Hotline at 847-432-VOTE (8683) with any questions about voting or concerns about anything you see at the polls. Our Election Protection Legal Coordinators are monitoring that line 24/7.

More than 100 enthusiastic Democrats welcomed Governor JB Pritzker. After the rally many walked two blocks to the Lake County Courthouse to early vote.

Candidates Forum
Allena Barbato
for Senate, District 32
The stakes are high this election, but there’s no turning back from the challenge. I’m Allena Barbato, and I’m running for the State Senate in the 32nd District, which includes Lake Villa, Lindenhurst, Ingleside, Volo and Fox Lake in Lake County, as well as a portion of McHenry County.
To some, this contest in what has been a traditionally Republican area may sound like an uphill battle. I understand that, although there’s more to it than previous election results might suggest. Democratic candidates may have been received differently years ago, but the parties are not what they once were. As I listen to voters all over the district, I can sense a shift. People in my area care about their rights, and they’re not going to throw them away just because they might’ve voted Republican in the past. For the folks I’ve heard from, enough really is enough.
I’m not sure what the latest poll says about it, but I can tell you, based on my interactions with real people throughout the district, that the Republican extremism concerns voters. My opponent, Craig Wilcox, is 100% anti-choice. That’s not what voters want, and I’m going to make sure, when I’m elected, that reproductive healthcare is protected. We will not go back to a time when unwanted pregnancies ended in tragedy. We will not allow extremists like Craig Wilcox and former Vice President Mike Pence, who’s promised that Republicans will push the anti-choice agenda in both Washington and Springfield, to take away our reproductive freedom.
For more about my campaign, go to barbatoforsenate.com. Please vote and encourage your neighbors to as well. That is how we can stand up to the right-wing extremism and protect our rights — reproductive health and more.
