  • Newport Township Dems January Meeting

    What: At the January meeting of Newport Township Democrats the guest speaker will be Lake County Clerk Anthony Vega, who will join the group at 7:30.   • Documentary Screening, “How Martin Luther King Jr. Changed the World”

    When: Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 5:30 to 7:30pm
    Where: McHenry County College, Luecht Auditorium, 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14, Crystal Lake
    What: McHenry County Juneteenth Organization and McHenry County College present a 45-minute documentary, How Martin Luther King Jr. Changed the World. Rev.   • Fremont Township Democrats January Meeting

    When: Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 6:00pm
    Where:  Lakeside Recreation Center, 900 S. Lake St., Mundelein (small party room) and online via Zoom.
    What: All things political will be discussed, including preparation for the upcoming primaries and how to lay the groundwork for victory in 2024. A hybrid system will be used, with some meeting in person and everyone else Zooming in.   For those attending in person, food will be available for purchase at the Dockside Diner.   • Gun Violence Prevention Initiative Town Hall in Highland Park

    When: Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00pm
    Where: Highland Park Public Library, 494 Laurel Ave., Highland Park
    What: The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office presents a Highland Park Community Town Hall on the Gun Violence Prevention Initiative (GVPI).These town halls are part of a series of town halls the GVPI has been hosting that offer them the opportunity to listen to the community’s concerns regarding gun violence in their neighborhoods and also collect data to inform and shape their Comprehensive Violence Reduction Plan. Register here.

  • Holiday Celebration with Lake County Clerk Anthony Vega

    What: On Friday, January 5, State Representative Jonathan Carroll submitted a resignation letter effective that evening at midnight. Pursuant to Illinois law, the Democratic Committeepersons for the 57th District, specifically Northfield Township/Tracy Katz Muhl, Wheeling Township/Mark Walker, New Trier Township/Dean Maragos, and Lake County/Lauren Beth Gash, will hold a public meeting on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 7:30 pm at the Northbrook Public Library, Pollak Room. The committee will cast weighted votes to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term with a member of the Democratic Party.   • Frederick Douglass Traveling Exhibition in Waukegan
