Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 21st Annual Virtual Dreamers’ Event
On Monday, January 16th, a celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 21st Annual Virtual Dreamers’ Event – was presented by Waukegan Township’s Patricia A. Jones Center. Lake County Democrats is proud to have been one of the many sponsors of this event whose theme this year was “Now is the Time.”
Kudos to Waukegan Township Supervisor Marc L. Jones and his team who work tirelessly year after year to put together this very special annual event. This year’s Keynote Speakers were Salem Baptist Church of Chicago former Pastor Steven J. Thurston II, and Salem Baptist Church of Chicago Founder and Pastor Emeritus the Reverend James T. Meeks.
Guest speakers included Lt. Governor of Illinois Juliana Stratton, U.S. Congressman Brad Schneider, Illinois State Senator Adriane Johnson, and Illinois Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Rochford. Many of our Lake County officials and special awardees also spoke, including Lake County Board Vice-Chair Mary Ross Cunningham and North Chicago Alderman Kenneth Smith, both Drum Major Award winners at the event.
We hope you will click here to enjoy this very special presentation in its entirety.

Join or Renew Your Lake Dems Membership in 2023!
We’re fired up by the results of the 2022 election – and we will continue working every day, in every corner of Lake County, to make sure we maintain the momentum. We still have a lot of work to do to support our Democrats who have been elected at every level, and yes – to elect even more. Will you help make sure we put ourselves in the best position to support Democrats in the next general election? We expect another difficult election cycle and that Republicans will be motivated once again to win.
Be a part of our movement! Join or renew your 2021 membership now! ($35 for individuals; $60 for couples.)
Every dollar you chip in will make a big difference – whether it’s keeping the lights on in our all-volunteer offices, putting on events to engage voters, or designing voter outreach materials, or other things.
To contribute, visit lakedems.org/contribute, or mail your check (payable to Lake County Democrats) to P.O. Box 671, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Together, we’ll make sure our values are reflected in our government and keep our country, our state, and our county moving forward.

Volunteer Spotlight
Lake Dems is grateful for our many active volunteers.
Bobbie Hinden has been an dedicated volunteer for many years. In her role as Events Chair, she has been instrumental in planning scores of events for Democrats in Lake County including Days of Service, candidate events, annual awards dinners and, most recently, our Democrats Defending Democracy reception, our Shades of Blue Fundraiser and our Election Night Watch Party. Currently she is busy helping to organize our January 29th event, when we’ll see a performance of DC’s Reflecting Fools comedy troupe. Click here to join us for the show, for dinner, or for both. Bobbie is a Precinct Committeeperson in Highland Park and fervently believes in the importance of grassroots organization and local politics aimed at keeping Democrats in office up and down the ticket.
