Lake Dems Holiday Party Sunday!
You’re invited to join us at our Lake Dems Holiday Party on Sunday, December 17 at 5:30pm at the Parched Pug, 1530 Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville!
Now that the petition filing period is over, Lake Dems is having a celebration of the season, our candidates and volunteers, and our victories in Lake County. We look forward to adding more Democrats to our ranks in 2024. Refreshments will be served. Cash bar, including a beverage wall — you have to see it. Mingle with like-minded folks, including elected officials and candidates. Open to Democrats. No cost to attend (though contributions are welcome). Sign up here.
Hope to see you there!
A Proclamation on Universal Human Rights Month — December 2023
“Seventy-five years ago, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights captured a remarkable act of collective hope. Drafted by a committee representing different regions, faiths, and philosophies and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, the rights enumerated in the declaration are universal and enduring. During Universal Human Rights Month, we reaffirm our commitment to upholding the equal and inalienable rights of all.” Read the entire Presidential proclamation here.
Lake Dems Volunteers Check Petitions
Lake Dems volunteers are busy all year, every year, performing a multitude of tasks to help Democratic candidates. This week they checked candidate petitions for valid signatures and registration status.
Make Sure Your Voice is Heard: Register for Permanent Vote-By-Mail
With a Vote-By-Mail ballot in hand, you’ll know for sure that you won’t miss an election.
Illinois offers the opportunity to sign up to have a ballot mailed to you before every election. It’s called Permanent Vote-By-Mail and Lake County Clerk Anthony Vega has made the application available on the Clerk’s website (available here).
Signing up for Permanent Vote-By-Mail doesn’t mean you can’t ever again go to the polls. Whenever you wish to cast your vote in person, simply bring your mail-in ballot, hand it to the Election Judge, and proceed as usual. What’s important about signing up for Permanent Vote-By-Mail is that most last minute emergencies won’t prevent you from voting. It is also possible to request a mail-in ballot during a prescribed period of time before each election by going to Voter Power for Registered Voters. For the March primary, that period starts December 20, 2023.
