Remembering Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day
Democrats marched in Memorial Day parades across Lake County in Grayslake, Highland Park, Lake Villa, and Wauconda.
On Memorial Day we remember and pay tribute to those who gave their lives to protect democracy. With so much at stake in these trying times, we must remember for what they fought. Heroes made the ultimate sacrifice, and if we truly want to honor them, we must work for democracy.
Thank you to the many Democrats and Democratic candidates who participated.

Democrats Defending Democracy Reception Tickets on Sale
Please join Lake Dems on Flag Day, June 14th, for an exciting and energizing evening featuring State Comptroller Susana Mendoza and national political consultant Pete Giangreco. The reception is from 5:30-7pm at the Hyatt Regency, 1750 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield.
Volunteer Spotlight
Lake Dems is grateful for our many active volunteers, including the following:
Ruth Stevig is the backbone of the Wauconda Township Democrats. As the organization’s administrator, Ruth sends out monthly meeting reminders, Zoom links, agendas, and post-meeting notes. Ruth recently hosted a candidate meet-and-greet at her home for Maria Peterson and Mary Morgan. A Precinct Committeeperson, Ruth’s home is often the drop-off or pick-up point for literature, t-shirts, signs, and more. Her impact goes well beyond Lake County, as when she coordinated efforts to write and mail postcards to voters in Georgia.
In Case You Missed It
Lake Villa Twp. GOP gun raffle postponed: ‘This is not the right time for the raffle’.
The scheduled raffle drew the ire of Lauren Beth Gash, Lake County Democrats Chair and Democratic State Central committeewoman, who said it should be canceled. (See earlier article: Lake County Dem chair: Gun raffle would be in ‘devastatingly poor taste’ after Uvalde shooting.)
