Volunteer Spotlight
Lake Dems is grateful for our many active volunteers, including the following:
Lake Dems wants to shine a spotlight on all our Democratic primary election candidates and volunteers. You knocked on thousands of doors. You dropped tons of literature. You made countless telephone calls. You stuffed envelopes, delivered yard signs, handed out literature at polling places. You gathered information about where and how to vote, got the information to voters, and answered their questions via email and the voter information hotline. You voted and you urged your friends and family to vote. And you served as election judges and poll watchers and performed election protection activities to ensure that the election ran smoothly and that everyone who was eligible to vote was allowed to vote.
Thank you to all our dedicated volunteers.
In Case You Missed It
10th Congressional District Republican Candidate Revealed Dangerously Out Of Touch Views About Reproductive Rights.
Deerfield, IL – Before the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, Republican candidate for Illinois’ 10th Congressional District, Joe Severino, revealed his shockingly ignorant and false views about abortion and reproductive rights on social media:
“85% of abortions are black babies drawing HUGE returns in baby parts. This includes late term abortion. ‘Like steer-the bigger the baby the more profitable.’ ”
10th District Democratic State Central Committeewoman Lauren Beth Gash released the following statement:
“Voters in the10th District should know that Republican Joe Severino is not only an anti-choice extremist, but someone who peddles the same disgusting, racist rhetoric and conspiracy theories as Donald Trump, who 10th District voters resoundingly rejected in 2016 and 2020. It’s pathetic but not surprising that this is the best candidate 10th District Republicans could offer a district that has been proudly pro-choice for generations.
Even worse: it’s possible that an extremist like Joe Severino could win this race. If we want to protect women’s health care freedom, if we want to overcome hateful conspiracy theories threatening to tear the country apart, we must beat right-wing Republican Joe Severino.”
