Governor Pritzker to Propose Relief on Grocery, Gas, Property Taxes
Illinoisans would save nearly $1 billion in taxes under the proposal Governor Pritzker is expected to announce during his combined State of the State and budget address on Wednesday.
Under the proposal, homeowners would get a $300 one-year rebate and taxes on gasoline and groceries would be frozen.

Do Your Part by Signing Candidate Petitions
Lake County Democrats are hosting petition-signing events all over the county! We had a successful, big “Snack, Sign and Notarize” recently at the Federation of Teachers Hall in Gurnee, with candidates (and their representatives), notaries, and lawyers available to check over petitions.
The petition-gathering period is shorter this time around—and it is in the dead of winter, unlike in usual years when the signing period is mainly in the fall. So please help our good Democratic candidates by attending one of the events in your area listed in Upcoming Events below.
You can also pick up petitions at the events to circulate to your friends and neighbors, if you want to, and get them notarized at one of our events when you are done. And if you can’t attend a petition event, please contact Lake Dems at info@lakedems.org and we will get petitions or a notary to you.
Volunteer Spotlight
Lake Dems is grateful for our many active volunteers, including the following:
Seth Kaberon, who lives in Highland Park, is a practicing attorney who volunteers with Lake Dems in several law-related roles. Seth serves on the Democratic Election Protection team as an attorney/pollwatcher. He also helps us obtain continuing legal education credits (CLE) for lawyers who attend trainings for our Democratic election protection activities and other law-related programs. Seth also volunteers at expungement events to help clear arrest records of people who, even though they’ve never been convicted of a crime, face barriers to obtaining employment or rental housing. And right now, as a notary public, Seth plays a crucial role in Democratic petition drives across the county.
