What: The Juneteenth Festival is a celebration of the holiday commemorating the date of June 19, 1865 when federal marshals marched into Galveston, Texas and enforced an order of emancipation for 250,000 enslaved Blacks. What: CCSD46, the Grayslake Area Public Library, and the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum invite you to create art in the Mobile Art Bus, engage with our collection of Juneteenth materials, and dance to music. As you journey on the Freedom Walk through Central Park, hear and read facts, get snacks, register to vote, and end at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum. While there, you can color our community map, fill a sand vase, and learn from our keynote speaker, Antwoinette Ayers, Illinois Humanities Road Scholar.
