  • Newport Township Dems October Meeting

    When: Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 7:00pm

    Where: The Shanty Restaurant, 38985 US Highway 41, Wadsworth; corner of Hwy 41 and Wadsworth Road. Enter the east door.

    What: October meeting of Newport Township Democrats. Guest speaker will be Erin Cartwright Weinstein, Lake County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court. There will also be an update on Waukegan Airport’s plan to expand its runway. RSVP to Kathie at khayden.newport@gmail.com

  • Fremont Township Democrats October Meeting

    When: Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 6:00pm

    Where: Lakeside Recreation Center, 900 S. Lake St., Mundelein (small party room)

    What: All things political will be discussed, including upcoming Connection Canvassing opportunities as well as petitions. There will be a notary present. A hybrid system will be used, with some meeting in person and everyone else Zooming in.   For those attending in person, food will be available for purchase at the Dockside Diner.   • Winning Elections: Tips for Precinct Committeepersons and Grassroots Volunteers.

    When: Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 7:00pm

    Where: Online via Zoom. Link will be sent shortly before the session.

    What: Presenters will include Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky’s Political Director Ben Head, and Alyssa Knobel, communications and government relations consultant, former City Council member and Lake County Democratic Precinct Committeeperson. This training will focus on best practices in effective voter contact, door knocking, and persuasion.     What: An open house in celebration of the new Job Center Kiosk host site. The kiosk brings access to the services of the Waukegan Job Center into the community.”

  • Deputy Voter Registrar Training in Libertyville

    When: Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 3:00pm

    Where: Lake County Central Permit Facility, 2nd Floor Conference Room, 500 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville

    What: Lake Dems is sponsoring volunteers to become Deputy Voter Registrars. The training session is conducted by the County Clerk’s office, and once you complete the session you will officially be able to register others to vote. Register here.

    There are certain requirements. You must be 18 years old and registered to vote in Lake County. Once you are trained to register voters in Lake County, you can register voters anywhere in Illinois. (Deputy Voter Registrars must be trained in their home county.)

    Voting is our most basic right, and helping others to exercise that right is an important contribution to our community. We hope you can help.

  • Lake Dems Petition Event: Lawyer Look-Over, Petition Turn-In, and Notary Party!

    When: Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00pm

    Where: Tacos El Norte, 401 N. Riverside Drive, Gurnee

    What: Completed petitions or statements of candidacy, including petitions for Precinct Committeeperson, will be looked over by an attorney trained in election law, notarized, and turned in to the candidates or the Clerk’s office (for Precinct Committeeperson petitions).     What: Lake Dems and Waukegan Township Dems cosponsor a free petition party to collect signatures for Democratic candidates so they can appear on the 2024 ballot.
