    Where: Near the intersection of N. Western Ave. and Vine, Lake Forest (south of Deerpath), we are the 60th position.

    What: Lake Dems will be walking with Congressman Brad Schneider. Parade will end at West Park.

  • Railroad Safety and Environment Presentation with Senator Julie Morrison

    Where: Dickinson Hall, 100 E. Mill Rd., Lake Forest

    What: Lake Dems will be walking with Congressman Brad Schneider. Cars may be parked at North Chicago High School, 1717 17th St., North Chicago, for a shuttle bus ride. Street parking very limited. Parade ends at the 1700 block of Lewis Ave.

  • Brad Schneider Walks With Other Democrats in the North Chicago Community Days Parade

    When: Saturday, August 5, 2023. Gather by 9:30am; step off at 10:00am

    Where: Adams St. and 10th St., North Chicago

    What: Lake Dems will be walking with Congressman Brad Schneider. Cars may be parked at North Chicago High School, 1717 17th St., North Chicago, for a shuttle bus ride. Street parking very limited. Parade participants can be dropped off at Adams Street and 10th Street. Parade ends at North Chicago High School in the 1700 block of Lewis Ave.

  • Moraine Township Dems’ Annual Summer “Party With Our Party”

    When: Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00pm

    Where: Private home in southeast Highland Park. Address provided upon RSVP.

  • Lake County AfroFest 23

    When: Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 2:30pm to 8:00pm

    Where: Greenbelt Cultural Center Pavilion, 1215 Green Bay Rd., between 14th Street and 10th Street, North Chicago

    What: A multi-cultural event that gives African-Americans and other ethnic groups the opportunity to show off their talents and artistic contributions. Vendors, business organizations and individuals can display, sell and give away what they have to sell or promote. Free parking and free admission.   • Walk in the Gurnee Days Parade with Warren Dems, Lake Dems and Lake County Democratic Elected Officials

    When: Sunday, August 13, 2023. Line up by 11:30am; step off at 12:00 noon.

    Where: Parade line-up number 19, right near the northwest corner of Grandview Ave. and Blackburn St.

    What: Join Warren Dems, Lake Dems and Lake County elected officials. Entrance to the line-up entry and drop off is at Delany Road and Grandville (easiest access is from Route 41 to Delany).The parade goes from Delaney to Old Grand and ends on Emerald Ave. (near the firehouse).   • Lake County Diversion & Deflection Series, Part 3: Juvenile Justice

    When: Tuesday, August 15, 2023, 6:00 to 8:30pm (doors open at 5:15pm for resource fair)

    Where: Greenbelt Cultural Center, 1215 N. Green Bay Rd., North Chicago

    What: This free event is for any Lake County community member who wants a better understanding of what happens when youth enter the criminal justice system. Since the juvenile justice system differs greatly from the adult court system, it can seem confusing. By attending this program you will get an overview of the system and learn about programs intended to support youth who have come in contact with law enforcement. RSVP here.

    What: The 2023 County Chairs’ Brunch features U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada. Tenth Dems founder, Lauren Beth Gash, is an Executive Board Member and former Party Builder Award recipient. Register online.

     

  • Deputy Voter Registrar Training in Libertyville

    When: Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 10:00am

    Where: Public Works Department, 648 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville

    What: Lake Dems is sponsoring volunteers to become Deputy Voter Registrars. The training session is conducted by the County Clerk’s office, and once you complete the session you will officially be able to register others to vote. Register here.

    There are certain requirements. You must be 18 years old and registered to vote in Lake County. Once you are trained to register voters in Lake County, you can register voters anywhere in Illinois. (Deputy Voter Registrars must be trained in their home county.)

    Voting is our most basic right, and helping others to exercise that right is an important contribution to our community. We hope you can help.

  • Fremont Township Democrats August Meeting

    Where: Lakeside Recreation Center, 900 S. Lake St., Mundelein (small party room)

    What: All things political will be discussed, including upcoming Connection Canvassing opportunities. A hybrid system will be used, with some meeting in-person and everyone else Zooming in.     Where: Peterson Park, 16652 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Vernon Hills

    What: A celebration of India Independence Day at Peterson Park in Vernon Hills. There will be music, dancers, speakers (including many Democratic elected officials) and delicious food. Lake Dems will have a booth.
