On Sunday afternoon, February 27th, Lake Dems hosted a petitions event from 2-4 p.m. at the Teachers Hall in Gurnee. Publicized as “one-stop shopping,” the event made available to Precinct Committeepersons and other volunteers who circulated petitions everything they would need to get the petitions they’d circulated notarized and returned to the appropriate location. Volunteer lawyers were present to review petitions and volunteer notaries were there to notarize circulators’ signatures. Then circulators had the opportunity to turn in their petitions for distribution to the various campaigns or, in the case of Precinct Committeeperson petitions, for filing in Waukegan. Circulators turned in hundreds of sheets, containing thousands of signatures for our Democratic candidates. And many left the event with even more petition sheets to circulate.
