The Lake County Democrats co-sponsored four NO KINGS protests in the area on Saturday, helping to manage the local demonstrations, recruited speakers, trained safety marshals to help make sure protests were peaceful and organized, and sent volunteers and attendees to the protests that attracted an estimated 15,000 people in Highland Park, Gurnee, Buffalo Grove, and Arlington Heights. Thank you to everyone who helped!
“NO KINGS protests throughout the country made clear that Donald Trump and his lackeys are abusing their power and pushing dangerous policies that are undermining our core American values. They have no patriotism, and no clue, except for how to attack our basic rights and steer the country into a darker and darker place,” said Lake County Democrats Chair Lauren Beth Gash. “Here in our area, NO KINGS is a no-brainer. We’ve rejected Donald Trump from the beginning, and we aren’t backing down now.”
Saturday’s day of action shows the growing energy channeled by Democrats, who have helped lead previous peaceful demonstrations against Donald Trump and Elon Musk, brought out large crowds on Labor Day to stand up for workers over billionaires, and recently have organized candidate petition drives to help get Democrats on the ballot.
